For those of you that don’t yet know me, I’m Dr. Currissa Alsobrooks, board-certified family medicine physician and owner of Bene Beyond Family Medicine. My family and I have been members of this community for nearly a decade, and the clinic is a new addition to the community.
Bene Beyond is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) clinic. In DPC clinics, patients pay a monthly fee for access to the provider(s) instead of paying for each individual service rendered. This eliminates the transactional nature that has taken over medical practice. Here at Bene, things are a bit different. I wait for patients in the exam room, not the other way around. I assess the patient’s vital signs. I’m essentially with the patient for the entirety of the visit. Here we want to foster true relationship and put the emphasis on what’s really important, you. We give our patients a truly valuable and limited resource often missing in traditional medicine – time.
In order to provide these services in an unhurried manner and limit wait times for visits, we have to keep things small. So, the number of patient slots is limited. This is how we make sure that the providers have the time to spend with each patient. The subscription model of payment and lean organizational structure helps to sustain the practice so that double and triple booking of appointments is not necessary. We are happy to say, we have found a better way.
